COPPER ALLOY DATA SHEET

ACB 6733

Nominally composed of 61.75% copper, 33.8% zinc, .7% lead, 1.0% silicon, and 2.75% manganese, leaded silicon manganese bronze ACB 6733 is a high strength, machinable engineering alloy which has good corrosion resistance.  ACB 6733 is a low leaded version of C67300 alloy with an adjusted chemistry to favor some cold working while maintaining excellent machinability.  It is an alloy also noted to be resistant to galling, fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and wear.  The copper zinc matrix contains needle-like manganese silicide particles which are very hard and impart the high wear resistance to the alloy.

Hot Working:  Because it is an alpha beta alloy, ACB 6733 has good hot workability and can be hot forged.

Cold Working:  ACB 6733 has fair cold workability due to its lower lead content.

Joining:  The lead content prevents successful welding.  Suitability for soldering is excellent, and for brazing, good.

Applications:  Typical applications of ACB 6733 include heavy duty components such as bearings and bushings, connecting rods, fasteners, gears and cams.

Applicable Specifications:  SAE J463

Standard Forms Available:  Rod, bar and extruded shapes in Temper H50, extruded/drawn.  For other forms and tempers, please consult Ansonia Copper & Brass, Inc.
