COPPER ALLOY DATA SHEET

C50700

Nominally composed of 98.1% copper, 1.75% tin, and 0.15% phosphorus, Low-Tin Phosphor Bronze C50700 is noted for its excellent corrosion resistance, ductility, and good resistance to fatigue.  It also has good electrical and thermal conductivity and flexibility.

Hot Working:  C50700 has good hot workability.

Cold Working:  C50700 has excellent cold workability and is well suited to all forms of cold work.  When annealed, the alloy can be readily bent and formed.  With the proper temper in wire, a good combination of high strength and high percent reduction in area can be achieved making it excellent for cold heading.

Joining:  Joining by soldering and brazing is excellent.  Joining by oxyacetylene welding is fair, while good by gas shielded arc welding and spot welding.

Applications:  Typical applications include messenger wire for railroad electrification and resistance wire.

Applicable Specifications:  When so specified, C50700 will be manufactured to the latest revision of the following specification:  ASTM B105.

Standard Forms Available:  Rod and wire.  For other forms, please consult Ansonia Copper & Brass, Inc.
