COPPER ALLOY DATA SHEET

C61000

Nominally composed of 92% copper and 8% aluminum, Ambraloy C61000 is an aluminum bronze known for its hardness, high strength, wear and corrosion resistance.  Although it is an engineering alloy, its rich gold color also allows its use in decorative applications.

Hot and Cold Working:  C61000 has good hot and cold workability.

Joining:  Joining by brazing or oxyacetylene welding is not recommended.  Joining by soldering is fair, while good by welding methods such as gas shielded arc welding (other than oxyacetylene).

Applications:  Typical applications of C61000 include welding wire, bolts, tie rods, shafts, and pump parts.  As wire, it can be used for depositing a wearing surface as an overlay on steel.  It should not be used as filler metal to join components.

Applicable Specifications:  When so specified, C61000 will be manufactured to the latest revision of the following specifications:  AWS 5.7 (ER CuAl-A1) for welding rod and wire.

Standard Forms Available:  Rod and wire.  For other forms, please consult Ansonia Copper & Brass, Inc.
