COPPER ALLOY DATA SHEET

C61800

Copper, Aluminum, Iron Alloy C61800 is nominally composed of 89% copper, 10% aluminum and 1% iron.  In rod and wire form, it is typically used as a welding rod or electrode, both as a filler metal with wide material use and as an overlay to provide corrosion and wear protection.

Hot Working:  C61800 has good hot formability.  It has a forgeability rating of 50.

Cold Working:  C61800 has only fair cold workability due to its high strength and rapid rate of work hardening.

Joining:  Joining by soldering is fair, while brazing is rated as good.  Oxyacetylene welding is not recommended due to oxidation of the aluminum constituent.  Coated, shielded, and resistance welding are all rated good.

Applications:  Welding rod and electrode wire.  End applications include bearings, shafts,  bushings, impellers and other applications requiring a combination of high strength and corrosion resistance.

Applicable Specifications:  AWS 5.7  for rod and wire:  ER CuAl-A2.

Standard Forms Available:  Rod and wire.  For other forms, please consult Ansonia Copper & Brass, Inc.
