COPPER ALLOY
DATA SHEET
C67500 and
C67600
Manganese Bronze A C67500 and Leaded Manganese Bronze C67600 are bronzes that are high strength, hot workable, machinable engineering alloys. They are also noted for their good corrosion and wear resistance. C67500 is nominally composed of 58.5% copper, 38.8% zinc, .3% manganese 1.4% iron, and 1% tin. C67600 is nominally composed of 58.5% copper, 38.5% zinc, .3% manganese, .9% iron, 1% tin and .8% lead. The addition of lead to C67600 improves machinability, thus making it more suitable for machining than Manganese Bronze A C67500.
Hot Working: Because they are beta alloys, C67500 and
C67600 have excellent hot workability and are known for their hot forgeability,
having a rating of 80 compared to an arbitrary rating of 100 for Forging Brass
C37700.
Cold Working: C67500 and C67600 have poor cold
workability. C67600 is used mainly for
machining.
Joining: Joining by soldering and brazing is excellent. Joining by oxyacetylene and spot welding is good, while fair by gas shielded arc welding. Due to its lead content, C67600 has lower weldability than C67500.
Applications: Typical applications of C67500 and C67600 include gate valve stems, valve parts where high strength and corrosion resistance are needed, and welding rod.
Applicable Specifications: When so specified, C67500 and C67600 will be manufactured to the latest revision of the following specifications: ASTM B138 for rod, bar and shapes and B124 for forging rod, bar and shapes.
Standard Forms Available: Rod, bar and extruded shapes. For other forms, please consult Ansonia Copper & Brass, Inc.
