COPPER ALLOY
DATA SHEET
C69430 and
C69710
DZistaloys C69430 and C69710 are special silicon red brasses designed for service in corrosive fresh water where dezincification is a problem that C69400 or C69700 are not able to resist. The alloys are noted in general for their moderate strength and resistance to corrosion and dezincification.
Laboratory tests were
originally conducted to measure and compare the corrosion resistance of the
standard silicon red brasses, and C69430 and C69710. The data from these tests predicted
significantly increased life for valve stems made from C69430 and C69710. Subsequent field trials conducted for two
years at 11 major cities in the
Hot Working: C69430 and C69710 have excellent hot workability, and are known to be hot forgeable, having a rating of 80 compared to an arbitrary rating of 100 for forging brass C37700.
Cold Working: C69430 and C67100 have poor cold workability, and, because of their low to moderate lead content, are used mainly for machining.
Joining: Joining by soldering and brazing is excellent. Joining by oxyacetylene and spot welding is good.
Applications: C69430 and C69710 have a combination of strength, wear resistance, and increased corrosion resistance that make these alloys ideal for valve stems and components. Their lead content makes them suitable for screw machine applications.
Applicable Specifications: When so specified, C69430 and C69710 will be manufactured to the latest revision of Specification ASTM B371 for rod.
Standard Forms Available: Rod. For other forms, please consult Ansonia Copper & Brass, Inc.
