Industries :: Bearings

Overview

Copper alloys are used to make many types of bearings of specific properties that require both hard and soft materials.

Hard alloys, such as phosphor bronze and aluminum bronze, are used against hardened steel shafts while softer materials, such as leaded bronzes, are used when the shafts are conventional low alloy steel.

Advantages

In particular, a distributed hard phase makes a good lubricant while softer materials are used to support the harder material and conduct heat from the surface of the bearing.
