Products :: Rod

Overview

Rod material is a major product produced at Ansonia Copper & Brass (ACB). The Rod Mill produces brass rod as well as alloy rod, copper rod and extruded shapes. Shapes manufactured are round, hexagonal, square, rectangular and specialty.

The plant also produces the broadest range of copper based engineered alloys in the U.S. Alloys within the entire family of rod copper alloys are manufactured, as well as other grades of copper such as electrolyte tough pitch and oxygen free copper.

Rod is produced in round, hexagonal, square and rectangular shapes and is finished on Schumag machines and drawbenches. Size ranges: Rod .062" - 4.500" (1.6mm - 115mm)

Applications

Our rod material is used in end products which require machining, forging, cold heading, electrical conductivity, cold forming, welding, stamping, redrawing strength.

Advantages

Ansonia Copper & Brass rod product is made from copper based material which is the one metal that gives the industry its most multi-functional high performance alloys.

Copper's generally known properties - thermal conductivity, malleability and resistance to corrosion achieve more than any other metal in combining performance characteristics to meet today's increasingly complex industrial requirements.

Copper-metals can be alloyed to possess:
- exceptional springability.
- crogenic adaptability.
- economical machinability.
- ready joinability.
- easy formability.
- natural finish;.
- resistance to fatigue and abrasion.
- non-magnetic stability color range
- harmonic vibrations.

Only copper offers all these properties in a broad variety of combinations to meet the needs of today's technologies.

ACB has the cabability to analyze all alloys cast on site both as melt control and final analyses. Final mechanical and physical property lot testing may include Tensile properties, Conductivity/Resistivity, Hardness, Grain Size and Micro structural Examination.

Performance tests include Bend, Hydrogen Embrittlement, Expansion, Flattening, and mercurous nitrate. Rods up to 1.500" diameter can be Eddy Current Tested. Ultrasonic inspection of rod up to 4.5" diameter is also available for Cupro Nickel alloys.
