Overview

Ansonia Copper & Brass is the only U.S. producer of large outside diameter seamless copper and alloy tubes. The plant's alloy products require in depth metallurgical production expertise for end users in the marine defense environments.

Outside diameter size ranges: 1.900" - 12.75" (48.25mm - 323.85mm); wall thickness: .072" -- .750" (1.83mm - 19mm). Typical alloys for these products include oxygen free, phosphorus deoxidized and silver bearing coppers, binary brasses, naval brass and copper nickels.

Applications

- Salt water systems and marine bearings in the military and commercial ship building industry.

- Television transmission line equipment and electric furnace induction coils in the electronic/electrical industry.

- Hydraulic and pneumatic pump liners in the industrial machinery and equipment market.

- Sea water pipeline installations including fire systems on offshore platforms.

Advantages

Ansonia Copper & Brass produces seamless tube product to cover the requirements of a wide range of corrosive waters, processing liquids and gas conditions.

These alloys are from the highest quality material available and produced by the most advanced fabricating methods. The careful control of quality employed in the alloying and manufacturing operations and the previously mentioned factors assure the production of tubes having superior properties.

Testing

Ansonia tube product is subjected to visual/dimensional inspection, Hydrostatic Pressure Testing and/or Ultrasonic Inspections and we are the only mill "in the world" who performs Ultrasonic Inspection for tube "on-site".

ACB has the capability to analyze all alloys cast on-site both as melt control and final analyses. Methods used include X-ray and Emission Spectrometry, Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometry, and Electrolytic Deposition.

Final mechanical and physical property lot testing may include Tensile properties, Conductivity/Resistivity,Hardness, Grain Size and Micro structural Examination. Performance tests include Bend, Hydrogen Embrittlement, Expansion, Flattening, and Mercurous Nitrate.
